The skin there is more sensitive, despite the years of blood draws and injections, and he takes a sharp, inhaled breath, though he doesn't pull away. It's not bad--the opposite, really, as heat floods his face again--just different, and he can't quite chase away that feeling of utter vulnerability that was, probably, a pretty silly thing to be feeling, all things considered.
