Desai Free-for-All event fluff

Tseng sighed slightly, and hoisted the shopping bag a little higher on her shoulder. The afternoon had ultimately been successful, though not without it's share of frustration. Shopping wasn't one of her favorite activities - she had little interested in fashion, and finding clothes that were both practical and that fit was usually a little bit of a challenge. Still, the company had made it a little more enjoyable. Speaking of...

She glanced over at Czesiek. "Hey, how about we drop this stuff at your place and then head out for some drinks? I need something to take the edge off this crazy day."

Oh thank whatever supreme being might be listening, Tseng hadn't taken offense at his bumbling. Czesiek did manage to get them back to his apartment without getting lost (an accomplishment really... everything looked odd, like he was at a different angle than usual) and let them into the apartment with minimal apologizing for the mess.

Iau came to greet them, winding around their ankles and demanding food and attention. Setting his bags in a corner, Czesiek scooped up the cat and peeked briefly into the bedroom to make sure he'd cleaned up after freaking out this morning. Success. "It should be safe... I'll just feed the Queen and change in the bathroom. Think about where you'd like to go?"

The cat feeding didn't take long, so he was left in the bathroom, going through his purchases and agonizing. Restaurant or bar? If it were a bar, what kind of bar? He knew they ranged in quality, but what to wear? Finally he despaired and told himself that it was better to be overdressed than underdressed and she would tell him if it was too much. Black slacks, deep smokey blue dress shirt, black belt and shoes... he hesitated on the navy tie.

He emerged, tie in one hand, bag of carefully folded purchases in the other, and tripped over his own feet. How he managed not to fall was anyone's guess, given how he was staring at his houseguest. Oh wow. Perhaps a tie was a good idea after all.

Was he really going to spend all evening in various shades of red? Czesiek immediately dropped his gaze to the carpet and fled to the bedroom to drop his bag and hastily muddle through tying the tie. It was more difficult than he remembered, and by the time that he got it arranged to his satisfaction, Tseng's second sentence had registered. Wasn't he supposed to be paying for things? That's the way it happened in the books, anyway... it was polite, right?

"You know," he said, carefully not ogling her this time, "um, it would be my pleasure to take care of the bill this evening..." He surreptitiously checked his pockets to be sure he'd transferred his wallet to these pants. "I mean, it would be nice to be able to do something for you for a change." A small, shy smile appeared.
